Rotimi Williams: Transforming Nigerian Agriculture Through Innovation

Rotimi Williams, a former journalist turned agripreneur, is the founder and CEO of Kereksuk Rice Farm, Nigeria’s second-largest commercial rice farm by land size. Established in 2012, the farm is situated in Nasarawa State and spans over 45,000 hectares, with approximately 1,000 hectares currently under cultivation.

Williams’ journey into agriculture began after a successful career in journalism and finance, where he recognized the underutilization and underfinancing of Nigeria’s agricultural sector. His passion for farming led him to lease land from local communities in Nasarawa, aiming to boost rice production and contribute to food security in Nigeria.

Kereksuk Rice Farm employs over 600 natives of Nasarawa, fostering economic development and providing employment opportunities in the region. Williams is committed to improving agricultural yields and has been actively involved in addressing security challenges in Northern Nigeria, striving to instill peaceful coexistence between workers and the local Fulani community.

Despite facing significant challenges, including security threats and multiple kidnap attempts, Williams remains dedicated to his mission of enhancing Nigeria’s agricultural landscape. His efforts have been recognized both nationally and internationally, highlighting his role in shaping the future of farming in Nigeria.

Through Kereksuk Rice Farm, Rotimi Williams exemplifies the impact of innovative and resilient entrepreneurship in transforming traditional sectors and contributing to national development.
